Nantucket with Lyman Perry, AIA

This project was designed to meet Nantucket Island’s vernacular building design recommendations and restrictions: “Building with Nantucket in Mind”.

Simple building forms keep a low profile against the horizon and blend into the landscape due to the use of traditional white cedar, which bleaches to a pale gray in the salty wind. Three structures are arranged around a central courtyard.The views from the house are paramount in the design layout. All structures have white washed post and beam interiors with a completely open and airy feel. Breezes flow freely through the spaces for natural cooling.
